Beginner Peg Loom Weaving
Discover the art of peg loom weaving. Join us for a hands-on creative course where you will transform washed, raw fleece into a beautiful, rustic creation using handmade looms made in Sheffield in our own woodworking workshop. Whether you want a cosy chair rug, a small pet mat, or a unique handmade Christmas present, this course is for you.

Meet your tutor: Shirley
Shirley is an experienced textile artist with a background in visual arts and heritage studies, and a particular interest in spinning, weaving and knitting. Shirley leads sewing and weaving sessions at Ed’s Workshop where her patient and encouraging approach makes her sessions welcoming and enjoyable. One of Shirley’s favourite things is working out how to make things, particularly items used in historic crafts. Drawing on her woodworking skills, she has designed and built different weaving looms used by Ed’s Workshop’s regular makers.
The details
Course option 1: Two evenings
6:00 PM – 8:30 PM Wednesday 4th November and Wednesday 11th November. This course costs £75 (includes all materials).
Course option 2: One Saturday
Saturday 28th November 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM (includes a lunch break). Lunch isn’t provided, but the studio is among local cafes and shops, or you are welcome to bring your own. This course costs £75 (includes all materials).

Classes are held in Carver House, a former cutlery works in the heart of the city that embodies Sheffield’s industrial and crafting heritage. Its history continues to inspire Ed’s Workshop’s makers and craftspeople today.
